This morning I woke up totally excited! I am anticipating Sophia's entrance into this world more than ever! I am preparing, excited, anxious, fearful at times and just READY.
I'm experiencing BH contractions, especially when I walk. My walking has greatly slowed down....yesterday wehn I was walking around the lake, an old man passed me. :(
''Your baby is now considered ''full term,'' even though your due date is three weeks away. If you go into labor now, her lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb.
Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and meadures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, come babies sport only peach fuzz.''
- VERY INTERESTING! In other words, don't freak out if she is bald or comes out with blonde hair and blue eyes. :)

36 Weeks and I'm feeling soooo ready....
I'm offivially huge.....and trust me, people are letting me know. My own mother called me Santa today :)
Well, my baby girl has officially ''dropped'' and Constance, my midwife, today said that she may be here sooner than we think! Let's hope Sophia waits at least until Saturday, because we officially hit 37 weeks then, which means she is full term and safe to enter the world without any concerns. I don't think she will be here that early, but I am reminded every day that goes by that its only a matter of days that I get to meet her!!!
''Practice'' with Poo bear -- this thing is hard to figure out...

Starting to pack my ''birth house'' bag with an outfit for Sophia and a blanket....that's all I've done so far :)

How I'm Doing.,....
How far along? 36 weeks baby!
Total weight gain: oh, you know....33 pounds and some :) People saay I'm ''all belly'' but honestly, I must hide it well because that is not the case.
Maternity clothes? I pretty much go back-n-forth between 3 outfits, because not much fits. My favorite PINK sweatpants are a staple on the weekends. I actually just bought another pair in a larger size because of my growing butt!
Stretch marks? Nada
Sleep: If you follow my blog, you know how sleep has been going....sleep? What's that? No, actually I'm sleepy, but very sporadically. Between naps and trying to sleep at night, I'm getting enough though. I have woken up with the WORST cramp in my calf 2 times now...I seriously have to breath through it, and then they hurt in the morning....so weird.
Best moment this week: So many! Finishing the nursery and checking things off my list of things to do. I ALWAYS love feeling my lil' girls kicks and rolld :)
Movement: Her movements are much slower, because she is a lot bigger now. Zach was laying on my belly singing to Sophia yesterday and she kicked his head....so cute!
Food cravings: Honestly, I eat ALL the time...its like I have a bottomless pit or something. So my new favorite thing to eat for a snack is a ripe banana dipped in peanut butter then dipped in shredded coconut...SO GOOD and I eat it just about daily :) It's very filling too.
Labor Signs: I pee all the thime, but I have been throughout my entire pregnancy. When I walk, I get contractions. Other than that, not really. I'm definitely nesting!
Belly Button in or out? Still IN, but very stretched :)
What I miss: Sleeping on my back and working out.
What I am looking forward to: Meeting Sophia! I can already tell these next 4 weeks are going to drag.....I'm done being pregnant, but need to be patient :) And I get to see my midwifes weekly until she is born. Also, we got our belly pics taken last week, so I can't wait to see them...pics to come.

the "almost" finished nursery
Here is more than you ever wanted to know/or see about Sophia's nursery!!!!
I had 2 goals in mind: it wouldn't be all pink and we would purchase white furniture.
It all started with the word plaques from Pottery Barn Kids.

Birds.
I'm almost finished with Sophia's nursery, and since we have a ''bird theme'' going on, I wanted to put some kind of bird mobile or something hanging from the ceiling above the glider chair. I keep coming back to something like this.....
......the only problem is that I will have to make it myself and time is the issue here. It looks pretty easy, but I will have to sew/stuff each bird, and make the branch mobile myself. We will see. Pics of the finished nursery are coming soon :)

Heartburn Remedies
Now that Sophia is cramming my internal organs, I am experiencing the lovely side effects of heartburn. I wanted to share with you what I use and just things that will help.
- eat small, frequent meals
- eat fruit seperately from other foods
- take 1 TBS raw-unfiltered apple cider vinegar in water before each meal (very important that it is RAW and filtered). Buy at most grocery stores.
- Take papaya tablets before or during each meal. These are my fav! They have saved me many times.
- Eat raw almonds when heartburn symptoms appear
- avoid tums and other antacids
- avoid deep fried/greasy foods
- avoid tomatoes
- don't eat right before bedtime.....try to eat at least 1-2 hours before you lie down.
- Don't drink and eat at the same time....try to space them out (drink 30 minutes before you eat and 30 after you finish a meal

Only 5 weeks to go!
I say this every week, but I feel HUGE!! |
Now that my baby showers are over, the nursery is just about done and we had our belly/pregnancy pics today, let the countdown begin! We can't wait to meet our Sophia.
Sophia is moving ALL the time, which is why she is the only thing I can think about anymore :) She already consumes me and I'm OK with it! Auntie KT came with me to our midwife appt. this week and got to hear her heartbeat. My belly grew another 2.5 centimeters, which means Sophia is growing steadily. Quite a few braxton hicks contractions too.
As for me, my neck has been out for a few days, so I have a minor headache. I feel huge and have to literally ROLL over, up and out of bed. I've experience heartburn for the first time ever. Sleeping is getting more and more uncomfortable. My thighs are rubbing together, but I'm able to keep up with my 4 mile walks. Overall, I feel quite sore because she is growing so quickly and everything in me is widening. People say I'm all belly, but lets face it, I'm not ;)
Zach and I have been trying to spend a lot of extra time together and going on mini dates, trying to get as much as we can with each other before her arrival.
''Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that she's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, she isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times she kicks should remain about the same. Her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. Most of her basic physical development is now complete --- she'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.''

33 weeks
Can my bump get any bigger? They say it will... OMG |
pose |
Overall, feeling pretty good. I think I had my first ''waddle'' moment this week. I was so embarrassed, I looked around to see if anyone saw...luckily it was only our weiner dog GiGi staring at me. I got a lot of walks this week too, so I feel somewhat refreshed and exercised. However, I think I hurt my right foot again and am NOT going to be a happy mama if I can't walk for another 2 weeks like last month.
A few other things:
- My ''to do'' lists are out of control
- I'm thinking of getting a ''belly bowl'' made out of the shape of my belly to display in my room (no its not some weird body cast, just check out the website....they are beautiful)
- In desperate need of some sunshine.
- Looking forward to my shower this weekend!
- My bro Gary now calls me ''gut buster'' or ''preggo''
- Bought my first reusable diaper today!
She's getting plump :) |
''This weeks your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. She's rapidly losing what wrinkled, alien look and her skeleton is hardening. The bones in her skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, this making it easier for her to fith through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as her brain and other tissueexpands during infancy and childhood.''
Crazing of the week: This idea came from my mother. I had it for breakfast and dinner once this week, it's that good! 1 slice Ezekiel bread topped with pesto, tomato, avocado and micro greens (found at TJ's) Topped with one egg fried in coconut oil and 1 slice pepper-jack yogurt cheese. Then I sprinkle it with sea salt, kelp seasoning and pepper. YUMMO!
